Me Burn NoticeThanks to the urgings of Talk-Radio Tastic (my Dad) I started watching the USA hit spy series Burn Notice two weeks ago.  I have no idea how I had neglected this series as long as I did and I have become absolutely addicted to it to the point where I did Breaking Bad-style marathoning, watching the first six seasons in a week.  Regret and sadness has set in, though.  I’m going through withdrawal, I’m beating myself up over not following the series from the beginning, much like I hadn’t with Battlestar Galactica (I only started watching that series seven months after its series finale aired) and to make matters worse, I just found out that the upcoming seventh season will be its last.  Well, at least I have my Michael Westen sunglasses to help me cope.

Hit Original Drama Series Returns Thursday, June 6 at 9/8c With 13 New Episodes

New York, NY – May 10, 2013 – USA announced today that its Emmy®-nominated original drama series and ratings juggernaut BURN NOTICE will air its seventh and final season beginning Thursday, June 6 at 9/8c. The hit series, from Fox Television Studios and creator Matt Nix, stars Jeffrey Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell, Sharon Gless and Coby Bell, and will join an elite group this season as the network’s third series to cross the 100 episode milestone.

“BURN NOTICE has had an incredible run over the last six years, and we could not be more proud of the extraordinary talent both in front of and behind the cameras who have collectively made this show into one of the most popular and lauded shows on TV today,” said Chris McCumber, USA Network co-president. “From day one, BURN NOTICE’s characters, storylines and mythology have consistently captivated a massive audience, and this final season will raise the stakes even higher, leading up to a spectacular series finale,” said Jeff Wachtel, co-president of USA Network.

The adrenaline-charged seventh season of BURN NOTICE will keep hearts racing as viewers uncover the details of the mysterious deal that fans’ favorite renegade spy, Michael Westen (Donovan) struck in the season six finale. Michael’s past and present collide as he tries to rebuild relationships with his family and friends while pursuing a dangerous mission involving the CIA and a lethal network of operatives. Recurring guest stars this season include Jack Coleman (“Heroes”), Adrian Pasdar (POLITICAL ANIMALS) and Stephen Martines (“The Closer”).

Over the years, BURN NOTICE has been honored with numerous industry accolades, including an Emmy® nomination and Gracie Award for supporting actress Sharon Gless, as well as an Edgar Allan Poe Award for showrunner Matt Nix. The BURN NOTICE: A New Day digital graphic novel won the AdAge Vanguard Award for the Most Innovative Broadcast Brand Extension in 2011. The series has also been praised for its impeccable stunt work and has garnered multiple Emmy® and Screen Actors Guild nominations. Greatly beloved by fans, BURN NOTICE was nominated for Favorite TV Obsession in 2011 and Favorite Cable TV Drama in 2013 at the People’s Choice Awards.

A critical hit since its inception, the Los Angeles Times praised the series, saying it had “a smart, savvy edge that seems fresh” and the Chicago Tribune called it an “espionage gem” and pointed out “The characters always come first, and they are all very well realized.” USA Today noted it “mixes drama with humor, often through dry narrative asides,“ and Entertainment Weekly called it a “can’t-miss.”

A breakout hit, BURN NOTICE premiered in 2007 as the #1 new scripted series in P18-49, P25-54, and total viewers P2+. In 2009, BURN NOTICE became the most watched scripted series ever on basic cable in P18-49, the first-ever series to break 3 million in the demo in a year. BURN NOTICE has been one of the top ten scripted series on cable every year it has been on the air and was a successful lead-in to hit series launches for ROYAL PAINS and SUITS. When BURN NOTICE aired Thursdays at 9pm last summer, it became the top performer in that timeslot on cable, outperforming FOX head-to-head in P25-54, P18-49, P18-34, and total viewers P2+.

Fans can catch up on season six of BURN NOTICE on VOD or via streaming at usanetwork.com starting on May 7. NEW YORK, NY – January 7, 2013 – USA Network ordered a third season of its Golden Globe(R) nominated original drama series Necessary Roughness. The 10-episode pickup completes the renewal of the network’s full summer slate of original drama series, joining previous new season orders for SUITS, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, White Collar and Covert Affairs. The announcement is from USA Network Co-Presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel.

Necessary Roughness, paired with Royal Pains, averaged 5.3M viewers as the Wednesday night block this summer. The season two premiere of Necessary Roughness nabbed 4.6 million total viewers.

Meanwhile, Hawks star player and ultimate bad boy TK (Mehcad Brooks) struggles with his sobriety but will stop at nothing to maintain his number-one position as wide receiver. And with the franchise’s ownership in the balance, the team is challenged when a secret threatens to bring down the Hawks’ entire season.

Season two of the series stars Callie Thorne, Marc Blucas, Scott Cohen, Hannah Marks, Patrick Johnson and Mehcad Brooks. Upcoming guest appearances include sports franchise owner and entrepreneur Mark Cuban, former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann, Will Chase (“Smash”), Peter MacNichol (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Robbie Jones (“Hellcats”), Jeff Nordling (“Body Of Proof”) and Neil Hopkins (“Lost”.)

NECESSARY ROUGHNESS is created and executive produced by Liz Kruger & Craig Shapiro (“Miami Medical,” “The Challenge”). Deadline: USA Cancels ‘Fairly Legal’

I don’t care about Fairly Legal at all but it was on USA which means that I should have been at least paying attention to it.  I didn’t care enough about it to even review it because it looked so stupid.  In fact, I didn’t even care enough to report this when it broke almost a month ago.

More from Deadline, here.

Deadline: USA Picks Up ‘Burn Notice’ For Seventh Season

Deadline is reporting that USA has picked up the popular drama Burn Notice for a seventh season.  Details below.

From Deadline:

The deal to renew USA Network‘s veteran Burn Notice, which we reported last week as being negotiated, is now done. Burn Notice has been picked up for a 13-episode seventh season. The size of the pickup is smaller than the 16-episode Season 2 and Season 3 and 18-episode Seasons 4-6. (USA also recently gave a 26-episode two-season order to veteran Royal Pains after several supersized seasons). The renewal will allow Burn Notice to hit the 100-episode mark next year and become only the third series in USA’s history to do so. “Burn Notice is like a fine wine that gets better with age,” said USA Network co-presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel. “Delivering high-octane action, gripping drama and nearly 7 million viewers for the mid-season finale, this veteran series is a proven staple of our portfolio.”

USA Announces ‘Psych’ Season Seven Premiere Date

Via Press Release:

USA NETWORK FAN FAVORITE “PSYCH” SEASON SEVEN PREMIERE SET FOR WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27 AT 10/9C

New Season Will Feature 100th Episode Milestone and Long-Awaited Two Hour Musical

NEW YORK – October 10, 2012 – USA Network’s hit comedy series PSYCH returns for its highly-anticipated seventh season on Wednesday, February 27 at 10/9c with 16 new one-hour episodes. This season, the Network’s longest running series currently on air will celebrate its landmark 100th episode and unveil the long-awaited two-hour musical.

PSYCH stars James Roday as police consultant Shawn Spencer who solves crimes with powers of observation so acute the precinct detectives think he’s psychic. Dulé Hill stars as Shawn’s best friend and reluctant sidekick Gus, Corbin Bernsen as Shawn’s disapproving father, who ironically honed his son’s “observation” skills as a child, Timothy Omundson as Detective Lassiter, Maggie Lawson as Detective Juliet O’Hara, Kirsten Nelson as Chief Vick and Kurt Fuller recurs as “Woody” the coroner.

Season seven will explore Gus’ personal life, feature the wedding of one of the main characters and deliver new ‘Psych-isms’ crafted for the series’ legions of devoted fans, affectionately known as PSYCH-O’s. Parminder Nagra will recur as Gus’ girlfriend, exposing his romantic side and creating jealousy with Shawn. Additional guests include Katy Mixon, Garcelle Beauvais, Jeffrey Tambor, WWE’s Big Show, as well as the return of Cybill Shepherd and Kristy Swanson.

To celebrate the series’ 100th episode, PSYCH will host a mini reunion of the popular 1985 movie “Clue” featuring original cast members Christopher Lloyd, Lesley Ann Warren and Martin Mull. The episode will also include guest stars Garrett Morris, Steve Valentine and returning guest star Curt Smith – of Tears For Fears’ fame – who will play himself. The long-awaited “PSYCH: The Musical” – an epic nod to the colorful word of musical theater – will showcase original songs written by show creator Steve Franks and performed by the entire cast with a host of impressive guest stars including Barry Bostwick, Brooke Lyons and Anthony Rapp.

While awaiting the return of their beloved show, fans can play the Emmy nominated PSYCH: Hashtag Killer, a suspenseful thrilling “whodunit” experience allowing fans to engage in a storyline specifically created for this experience, allowing them to send and receive messages directly with Shawn (Roday) and Gus (Hill), in an effort to solve the case.

PSYCH’s sixth season proved to be the show’s most watched among P18-34 with 1.12 million, while showing growth among P18-49 (2.24 million) and P25-54 (2.22 million).

PSYCH is executive produced by Steve Franks, Kelly Kulchak and Chris Henze, from Universal Cable Productions in association with Tagline Pictures. Mel Damski serves as executive producer/director. Bill Callahan is executive producer. Saladin K. Patterson, Andy Berman and Todd Harthan are co-executive producers/writers. Kell Cahoon is consulting producer.

USA: ‘Royal Pains,’ ‘Covert Affairs,’ ‘White Collar’ Renewed

Via Press Release:

USA NETWORK ORDERS NEW SEASONS OF HIT ORIGINAL DRAMA SERIES “ROYAL PAINS,” “WHITE COLLAR” AND “COVERT AFFAIRS”

Three Series Rank In Top Ten Of Basic Cable’s Summer Dramas with Adults 18-49

NEW YORK – September 25, 2012 – On the heels of an unprecedented seventh consecutive summer win as cable’s #1 network across all key demos, USA signaled additional season pickups for three of its hit original drama series – ROYAL PAINS, WHITE COLLAR and COVERT AFFAIRS. The three series rank among the summer’s top ten scripted hours overall in cable in 18-49. The announcement was made today by Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel, co-presidents, USA Network.

“All three of these series have found ways to stay creatively fresh and culturally relevant. The execution in writing, acting and production is among the best on television. In an increasingly competitive landscape, these series got new season pickups the old-fashioned way — they earned it!,” said Wachtel and McCumber.

A high-end performer since its debut, ROYAL PAINS received a 26-episode pickup across two additional seasons with season five of the Universal Cable Productions series commencing in New York in 2013. WHITE COLLAR, from Fox Television Studios, which films in and around New York City, received a 16-episode pickup for season five, to begin filming in 2013; and the Toronto based production of COVERT AFFAIRS, from Universal Cable Productions, received a 16-episode pickup for season four.

ROYAL PAINS follows talented young doctor Hank Lawson (Mark Feuerstein) a disgraced New York City physician who reinvents himself as the Hamptons’ hot new doctor-on-demand to the rich and famous. The drama also stars Paulo Costanzo, Reshma Shetty and Brooke D’Orsay. On December 16, USA will offer a two-hour movie event “Off-Season Greetings,” an intimate look at the backstory of the Lawson brothers and a celebration of the long-awaited nuptials of Evan (Costanzo) and Paige (D’Orsay). From Universal Cable Productions, ROYAL PAINS is written and executive produced by Andrew Lenchewski and Michael Rauch. Paul Frank and Rich Frank also serve as executive producer along with Jeff Kwatinetz from Prospect Park and Connie Burge. Carol Flint, Jon Sherman, Kerry Orent and Jack Bernstein co-executive produce.

Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay star in the critically acclaimed WHITE COLLAR, which focuses on the unlikely partnership between charming con artist Neal Caffrey (Bomer) and straightforward FBI agent Peter Burke (DeKay) who partner to catch other elusive white collar criminals. In the summer finale, Neal finally learns the elusive Sam (guest Star Treat Williams), is his father. When the series returns in January, Neal will continue to uncover secrets from his past, with the help of Peter and fan favorite Mozzie, played by Willie Garson. The series also stars Tiffani Thiessen, Sharif Atkins and Marsha Thomason. WHITE COLLAR was created and is executive produced by Jeff Eastin and comes from Fox Television Studios.

Golden Globe®-nominated Piper Perabo stars as Annie Walker, a young CIA operative whose exceptional linguistic skills and killer instinct make her invaluable to the Agency in the popular spy caper COVERT AFFAIRS. The series, which also stars Christopher Gorham, Kari Matchett and Peter Gallagher, returns on Tuesday, October 16 with six all-new episodes that have Annie seeking revenge in Russia for the devastating tragedies that rattled her world. From Universal Cable Productions, COVERT AFFAIRS is executive produced by Doug Liman and David Bartis through Hypnotic and written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord.
