The official sources say that Iver Iversen was a novice mechanic. He excelled in his field of endeavor. He became an explorer when he joined Captain Einar Mikkelsen for the Denmark expedition. In 1909, Ejnar Mikkelsen said he wanted some volunteers to find missing members on Shannon Island.
